Title: [Environmental] Temp
Post by: AA on March 23, 2009, 22:17:09
This level was already put on KnyttLevels weeks ago, when the forum was down. I'm making this post just to add some information about it.

This is my first Environmental level: it's extremely short, and it requires Custom Object support. It's little more than an exercise with the new editor features.

'Temp' might sound like a placeholder title, but it's actually short for 'Templum Temporis' (the Temple of Time). The setting and story are left for free interpretation.

I find the black part kinda disorienting, but I really like this level, especially COs effects. Good work.  C)

Thanks everyone!

I'm usually no good with the artistic part in games, and since Custom Objects offer very little in terms of technical features, I thought I'd make use of those few as well as I could. That is, basically using Layer 6-7 objects in the place of normal tiles so that you can finally 'hide' Juni behind them.

I think that with some effort one could make really cool-looking 3D perspective levels, or even fake some scrolling. But that's it, any other application I could think of is about the atmosphere.

The COs were great in how subtle they were. I particularly liked the rusty-sounding pendulum.
Nice one!

Oh, I remember I've played this from knyttlevels a week or two ago. I was distracted by your new name.
Very, very original. The whole level makes you feel this strange ambiance. The CO's are really good,
Spoiler: (click to show/hide)
I hope you do expand this.

I hope you do expand this.

I'm sorry, but I don't have much time to work on levels at the moment, so please don't count on it.
About the spoiler, that's the only entirely 'original' Custom Object I made, and it shows.

I liked the CO usage, but other than that, it wasn't much of an environmental. The first couple of screens are quite bare. :(

Extremely short, :/ but still kinda cool all the same... :)

I don't really know what to think of it, cool looking climb powerup though. :^^:

hmmm. Says that I've already downloaded this, but the discription doesn't match any level I can think of... *goes to play*
EDIT: Ah yes.  remember this. Sort of a 'check what you can do with COs' level.
