Title: Razzorman's music
Post by: Razzorman on April 17, 2009, 15:17:23
I got FL studio a couple of months ago, because I thought it seemed like a nice program to make music in. Then, as I usually do, I completely forgot that I had it and didn't touch it until about a week ago, when I was cleaning up my C: drive. :P
I decided to try to make something with it instead of just deleting it.

Frozen warmth (http://solidfiles.com/d/aqKJ) Since I don't actually know anything about music, would you mind telling me what genre it is?

Once upon a time (http://solidfiles.com/d/0Ra4)

It's pretty nice.

Very boring, though; I lost interest halfway through. :I
I would probably classify this as downtempo music.

Ahh, true ambient music. I really enjoy this. :D
More reverb on the pad, tho. And that 'boop boop' thing is too punchy.

Keep it up. :3

EDIT: Actually, everything in this case could use a bit more reverb. XD

In other words, "make it more interesting!" :O

Well, yeah, I suppose; but this track is (in my opinion) already much easier to listen to without getting bored than the other one.

Yeah it's definitely not bad.

Yeah it's definitely not bad.
Did you even read my whole post?

I believe the track is quite good. But it could be awesome! All it takes is a touch of reverb.

Yes? I didn't mean to say you said it's bad, I just mean I think it's not bad. >.>
Like how people eat food or something and say "not bad", like it's not the best thing ever but it's okay.

The original version actually had more reverb, but it made this strange clipping noise at some points, so I had to turn it down. I suppose I could have fixed it with a limiter, but I didn't think of that until now. *headdesk X)

The clipping noise might have been caused by high CPU usage on the part of FL Studio, which can happen when you have too many high-CPU instruments. There are two solutions to this:

  - Switch your sound driver to ASIO4ALL. Go to Options > Audio settings > under the big drop-down box, select ASIO4ALL v2. It spastically decides to not work for me occasionally, but when it does it's awesome.
  - Bounce to WAV (File > Export > Wave File) every so often and listen to that instead of playing it in FL.

No, I have heard that kind of clipping before, and this wasn't it. Besides, I'm already using ASIO4ALL.

Oh.
Oh, I see. Yeah, you could have used a limiter there. :P
