okay so current progression status: 41 screens, 2 areas finished and another nearly so because spoilers x3 main character done, one side character/quest begun and getting planned... now i have a couple of tilesets i know i'll need to do and am currently going back over the plot of the game to make sure it all works.

I AM INSANE. this isn't gonna get done anytime soon. i should probably get a small side project so i have something less incredibly ambitious to show.

Thank you very much though!! I'll try to fiddle around with what I've got here and make it work until Egomassive puts in his two cents about the matter. I feel kind of silly to not have noticed the Character tag under [World] :/

EDIT: I FIGURED IT OUT
I'd just forgotten to switch the format under [World] to 4, like Egomassive told me to in my last level edit thread. Sorry man -_-'

Oooh that's an interesting idea, LPChip! Hmmm... These are mostly the old, dusty kind of spiderweb, but I'll play around with transparency and see what it gives.

So I've got KS+, I've looked through the tutorial, but all I can find in relation to custom characters is the [Custom Character] tag at the beginning of the World file and later on the Shift (( ShiftCharacter(A)=Knytt )) to switch character images.

Point 1: I want the game to start off with the new character image.
Point 2: I have no idea how the programming makes the link between the 'Custom Character' tag and the 'Knytt' mentioned in the Shift???

Sorry, I'm not all that great at programming and I have tried a number of things until now, none of which worked x_x Does anyone have advice?

Sorry for the considerable wait, as usual I was off doing random stuff instead of concentrating on my various projects.

I have now added a few Custom Objects and updated those horrifying spiderwebs! :0 The Lair tileset hasn't yet been updated because I'm going to be adding some white-lined ground tiles in the freed-up space. In any case, I hope you all like the new webs.

so um, i've gone over the custom object manual but as far as i can tell it didn't explain anything pertaining to my predicament, which is:

you know the huge spider that chases you? i want to create a similar CO, as in one that runs from one end of a pit to the other when you're on level with it and kills you on impact, with my own animation.

HOWEVER! i have no idea what code to use in the World file for that, and i don't know where the information for the original spider is stored.

can anyone help me with this?

whoops, looks like i haven't updated here in a while.

in answer to your question: every door you pass through is also counted as a save point, so yes there is one pretty close to that area :3

i've been working a lot on the sewer tileset, and unfortunately decided to actually make every single element used in the game (which means i now have to animate... oh no), so that's been taking up some time. i freely admit i slacked off and didn't work on it for a whole month at least, though :P

you'll probably be seeing a tileset update and, if i can make them work, a couple of examples of characters/animals i'll be using. and more screenshots, hopefully???

New screenshots and tilesets available :3 I'll probably redo the teeny spiderwebs, and maybe the weird-looking medium one. If I do they'll all end up in the style of the big one.

Alright! So I've been getting a lot done in terms of tilesets, though I still have a ways to go before any of them are complete, and today I got the beginning of the level started (around ten screens structured and decorated).

Have some screenshots. Note that since I'm creating this level mostly for its aesthetic, they sort of consist in "spoilers", since you'll be seeing parts of the landscape without context/discovering it yourself. Nothing plotty is spoilered here, however, and since this is still very early-game players would have seen all of this quickly enough.

Thank you! :0 I'll try to make some for each type of tileset, though in the case of Tiny House it might not be necessary. The different items are pretty self-explanatory. Maybe to show the use of different item heights??? I will see.

I'm putting up my tilesets as often as possible on the thread I made over in custom content, but you have just reminded me I really should keep a copy of my level on a USB key xD

I'll certainly make sure not to repeat last time's mistakes, anyway :0
