Title: [Challenge/Very hard/Normal] The super hard level
Post by: Dandelion on June 07, 2009, 23:17:05
Yay, 2 levels in one day! As the title suggests, this is a super hard level. It's not lunatic, but I was aiming for very hard and I think achieved it. There's also a normal difficulty setting. Also I forgot to credit one of the tileset authors. The house insides in the starting area use a tileset made by Didriking. Sorry Didriking! I made this level for my brother, but it's ok so I decided to release it anyway. http://www.knyttlevels.com/levels/Dandelion%20-%20The%20super%20hard%20level.knytt.bin (http://www.knyttlevels.com/levels/Dandelion%20-%20The%20super%20hard%20level.knytt.bin) Last time I compressed this the cutscenes didn't work right so I don't know if they did this time.

I'll try normal first. *playing*

A lot of corner SGEs in the black cave with glow rocks. The normal seems a bit hard. Blank sign on normal other black caves

Now very hard

Jumping across the water didn't seem very hard, but the rest of the level is good so far.

Yay! I beat it. Great level.

Yeah, when I made this level I didn't know what to do with those tiles, so the corners were left out. I thought I fixed the sign thing. Guess I forgot. As for the jumping, since it's the first obstacle and I thought enemies would make it annoying, I went easy on the player for a little while. ;) And I thought normal might be a bit hard also. Maybe I should have removed more enemies. Glad you liked it!

I dont know why but the first sand croc I came across..

I keep on getting killed by it even though i knoe that its there...

i forget stuff too soon....

and while you hold up at the green door while exiting/entering, you wallswim silly.

I would say that those 2 screens (The one with the sand croc and the one before it) make up the hardest part of the game. And IDK what to do about the wallswim. :/

Try getting rid of it

Getting rid of the house? I don't want to do that.
Move the shift.
To where?

Somewhere above the ground and near the door.
Yet on the ground.

Try using the blox from the invisible bank as a shift.

Try using the blox from the invisible bank as a shift.
Do you mean having the shift floating above the ground with an invisible block below it? :/ That wouldn't fix the problem. You could still wallswim in the invisible block.

nooooooo! D:
You can make the shift the size of an invisible block (the skinny ones)

So I should set the shift to floor, which makes it the size of a skinny invisible death tile?

What are you two talking about?!

Just stick no-climb blocks under all the doorframes.

Of course. That would work, I didn't think of that. :) But I'm too lazy to upload a bugfix version, at least right now.

No it wouldnt.

It would just let you wallswim, but you can't climb

You can try treating the shift as a custom object? Its a good idea ..if it works...:3

Evil, seriously. What are you talking about?

I played through the normal version, (felt more towards hard in my opinion) a fun level, (that bit when you had to backtrack after getting the eye made me swear several times X)) the graphics in some areas could have been a little better, but that didn't really matter so much.

Overall I still liked it quite alot, I'll probably updates this post when I get around to trying the very hard version (god spare me .)

Good luck on the hard version. If normal made you swear, you'll need it. X-P Evil, I'm really confused. Shifts can't be custom objects. COs can only be decorations, they can't even be solid.

I don't even see any wallswims. Screen coordinates? Maybe it's because I'm using KSA, but that shouldn't affect it...

x1000 y1000, with a copy of the screen at x1000 y1006. If you hold up while entering the green house, you sometimes wallswim. It's not doing it right now though, not for me.

You have to be running silly

I haven't played this yet, but from the sound of it, you've got some wallswims after entering a shift, right? If you set the shift to 'spot', it'll shift Juni to the centre of the tile co-ordinates, so if there's a slight object under her that she can wallswim into, a spot shift should dump her on top of it instead.

I'll download this and give it a try when I get home...

Great level, pretty challenging.
