This level was made for the Knytt of the Month Klub (https://www.glorioustrainwrecks.com/node/10718)! I think it's best played not knowing anything, so here is the download link. v2! (https://www.dropbox.com/s/tm7mtunj26kj7vh/xZilas%20-%20DLFoTD%20v2.knytt.bin?dl=1) Go ahead and play it!
If that's not enough to convince you then here are some screenshots. View at your own risk! Or, better yet, play the level first!

The level was made in about 2 days total. 3 more days were dedicated to heavy playtesting, detailing and adjusting the story. The hardest parts were the story and sound. Hopefully the graphics look quite nice. I tried to stuff the level chock-full of secrets. I'd appreciate feedback of any glitches/oversights, as well as any feedback on how I can make this level or my next levels better.
I'm making lots of cameos lately. C)
You really had me fooled at the beginning. From the title to the level design I was like, "Is this some kind of no-effort, abstract-art level? Hope I can find something nice to say about it." Then you turned me around and made me re-examine my own reactions, teaching me a heart warming lesson. Well played Sir. *gives star*
Hey, I just downloaded KS+ and gave this a try. Fun level! Really like what you did with the narrative. :)
Favorite part:The easter egg of the little toast-guy that would appear from the water. I killed myself on purpose at one point to see if he'd appear, and he popped out like "Really, Juni?" XD
I did notice one minor typo:"Outside of every Knytt Stories level is IT'S inspiration." This should be "its" without an apostrophe, since this is the possessive term. Not a big deal, and probably not worth uploading a new version in your case. But, this is a good thing to keep in mind for future works. :)
Overall, great stuff! Glad to see people still making quality KS levels like this one after so many years. :)
I leave for one month and I come back to five new levels I need to play.
...good grief, the KS forums are like a geyser. Mostly dormant, but when it blows, oh MAN does it blow.
Haven't played this yet, gonna do it ASAP. Thanks so much for making this, in the meantime!!
EDIT:
FAN-HECKING-TASTIC. I love this type of level. The positive, philosophical type of level (as well as the type of level that fools you into thinking it's another level entirely). Love the moral that this is going for. Absolutely great job with this level. If there was a competition to see who would make the best level in the fewest screens, yours would be up there. :)
A bit late to the party, but I just wanted to say that I too enjoyed this little level :D I really liked the new tilesets, the shading on the more elaborate screens and the message the level conveyed. My only gripe would be...
...the dark screen with the black spider. The red eyes can be seen when the creature is not moving, but they're practically impossible to see when you're using a LCD screen that doesn't have a fast response time (such as mine) when the enemy is running towards you. I had to get the timing right blindly by trial and error. Perhaps making the red eyes bigger and/or brighter when the enemy is moving would help. Still, it didn't take me *that* many tries, so this issue didn't bother me too much.
