This is one of best levels I've ever played ;). Very big and epic adventure. Now, I can give You a :hiddenstar:.
Pretty ambitious level, and the atmosphere is really great, though I wasn't too much a fan of some of the actual obstacles.

Man am I glad this level is finally released! So much work into it and I really hope people enjoy and appreciate it. It's definitely worth hunting down secrets (if you're up for a challenge). There's a lot more to this level than you think on the first play-through.
Good luck everyone! You're going to need it. <_<Found a wallswim:
Mind telling me how?

I do wish you'd be a little more specific about which obstacles you weren't much of a fan of.
I must say that it was sometimes too hard for me
Completed it!Have a :hiddenstar: !It was an epic story, with good music, and I like the talking mechanics you put into it.Most challenges were good, and never way too frustrating, although there were some generic "dodgethisandthatANDthat!" moments, some relied on bullethell.I completed it with only the yellow key.I don't like how I found it by randomly climbing into an invisible wall, though.
Gotta say again this is a great level. I like the story and all the hidden stuff. I do wish some of the challenges were more challenging and less reliant on random chance but whatever.
Second time thru I realized I was completely wrong about where the other keys were and quit. Third time thru I got theSpoiler: (click to show/hide)

Nice level. I got pretty mad however when I choose the wrong ending and it saved my choice. I have little time for knytting and now I have to replay everything just to see the other choices. >:( Great level otherwise.
You should really consider releasing update packages for those who already have an old version of the level. The simple way to do this is to remove the music and ambiance folders before compressing the level. 109 MB is a lot to download repeatedly.
This is a good story, and you handled everything quite well. I did have to gave up trying to find all the endings: too hard and time consuming. I also thought it would be longer, but it is more an epic story than epic length I think (compared to number of areas in The Machine for instance).
Is Basalt Woods tileset usable? It so beautiful I'd really like to use it. Below is my favorite screen by the way. The way you used the darker waterfall to imply depth was brilliant. I don't think I've seen that done before.
Oh yeah so I looked at this level yesterday through the level composer, and this level is 1453 screens large, which I think makes it the largest finished level.
I'm interested in playing this level, but the download link is broken. Would someone be able to re-upload the level?
I have fixed the link! Download and enjoy!

Still seems to be down. I also tried logging into DA to see if it made a difference. (It didn't. :()

Oh my.
Well this is gonna be embarassing...
The level -was- good, and the story is what kept me playing, but...the enemies are way too random to be able to get through on skill. It's entirely luck-based on many of the screens. :/
That's not to say I didn't enjoy it, I really did. I really liked the story, but the randomness of the enemies made some screens completely luck-based.
I give this level a B/5. *nod*
Well, it says the difficulty gets harder with each secret you collect, and I was raging at a few choice screens after my first secret. >.< It's a very good level, that's for sure! The story is great, the tilesets are all very stylized, and having to make a level of this sheer size is admirable! I thought of making something like this myself, once~*looks at all the other comments*

If you haven't found all the secrets, I highly suggest you do. If you only played through the normal ending, you've really only completed 35% of the game.
Great level indeed! I spent all night on this without sleep, however I got stuck here since I get several abrupt teleports after telling the second mayor about the count down, and the teleports got me to middle of nowhere surrounded by endless white water, but I can see other people finish the level no problem?
Fubaka, I'm confused. I got the red key, bringing my item total up to everything but the hologram and blue key. Where do I go next?
Edit: The passable wall to get back to the rest of the level wasn't working for me, possibly because I didn't have the red key at that point. I reached the ending, but I still didn't have the blue key. Is there some way (possibly involving God Mode) to go back to the appropriate area and get it? When ought I to have collected it?
There are a couple of screens, however, that require fantastic reaction speeds and a possibly fast computer to be beaten.
I also maintain that hovering through a two-block-high gap covering more than half a screen while avoiding six vertical lasers goes WAY beyond lunatic.
I just got to the four-keys ending! ...Wait, there's more?!
Fubaka, I have two questions. Firstly, what's the coordinate region for the post-game content? Secondly, why does the pillars section of x1032y960 seem harder than than the corresponding section of x1036y960?
I get input lag from changing screens a lot and it frequently kills me. I also sometimes get input lag from rapid opening and closing of the umbrella, and sometimes the game can't handle too many inputs at once (S+right+up, for example, can fail to lead to climbing on impact).
Hm. I sometimes get problem-causing input lag when changing screens in the middle of any kind of fast-twitch move. For me, at least, the issue is related to my use of KS+ and its single-pass render setting. In every case thus far, temporarily disabling the single-pass render setting gets rid of the screen-change lag for me...

Try playing Dark Sea 2 (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=5355.0), or any of SecretGlitch's other levels, then tell me what Lunatic is. :P
I reiterate: that room is simply not beatable unless you can act much, much faster than I can. I'll try it again with single-pass rendering off and see what I think then.I think I had to use the official KS 1.2.1 release to beat one of the challenges in this level. The performance difference with the single-pass rendering turned off is minute, but there is a difference.
Well, considering that those two screens are exactly identical in obstacle content, sans the lasers in the first one, the difficulty probably only lies in the angle that you are tackling it from.
A pretty nice level
The bad ending was funny X-P
When I got to the end of the level I fell into the normal ending by mistake, even though I had the yellow key. Then when I went back I found the game auto-saved at the ending, so I can't know if I missed something special... Very annoying... >(
In any case the level felt a bit linear, and I'm not sure I'd want to go back through everything trying to find a hidden secret...
Good aspects of the level were good atmosphere and a good story, and also the challenges were quite fun and not too hard. The difficulty was more like "hard" than "very hard". Although the level was quite fun, the story and the challenges didn't feel very original. It's all stuff we've kind of seen before.
I love finding secrets. Took the detector, purple key, eyes, hologram ... oops, I read that it is necessary at this point to have two keys. Start playing again, I find a blue key, I come to the same place ... oops, I only have one blue key! Remember where he lay purple key, pass the game again and the place can not see the secret passage. Hmm. Now find tips on the forum and will continue to pass.
Found wallswim (in the screenshot), when he got the eye and returns through cave need to talk to the little man - and when you rise up, leaving the wall.
P.S. Basalt Woods sumptuous.
For a very long time I haven't played Knytt Stories. Today I decided to give it a try again.
Firstly I wanted just to play A Strange Dream to remind myself old times. But I changed my mind and I picked this one.
I was sursprised. Everything I loved about Knytt Stories came back.
Beautiful story, wonderful artwork and nice music. The level design is just perfect.
It has a touching atmosphere, giving me feeling I have known from Nifflas's levels.
Great work. Thanks for your time you spend creating this level. Giving a :hiddenstar:.
I really liked the challenges there. There were so many new ideas.
I definitelly will play it again to find secrets.
Probably too late to correct the wallswims you mention at this point.

Ha-ha! You just patched it and I found a bug!
There's a switch you can press at the start of the Silver Mountain area, the one that starts a brief quip from the mayor - if you're too far to the right (and left, probably, I didn't try that out) when you press it, you'll get quantized into the wrong spot, and you won't be able to scroll through the mayor's text!
There are also a handful of walls that should be no-climb and aren't, but they're in totally inconsequential places.
- Added a new secret area, though I'm almost positive it's impossible to reach legitimately. Try to prove me wrong!
Removed HerobrineHerobrine? Where was he?
He gets around.Removed HerobrineHerobrine? Where was he?
Hi. I have faced some issues after meeting with the mayor and telling her about the machine and the end of the world.
While walking, at some points the whole layout changes suddenly, which I understand is totally on purpose since the world is melting away. However when this happens and I go back to previous screens I am able to climb some invisible walls and reach the void that I am pretty sure should not happen.
It happened in version 1.1.1 and now I downloaded 1.1.2_01, started the same save and the same happens.
You can see the issue in this video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sixhcppra6mq8ak/2022-03-13%2021-54-48.mp4?dl=0
Loving the level so far!
Happy to contribute. It is all fixed now thanks!, I also realized that I was trying to go back when it wasn't needed.Well it's not your fault for trying to go back. It's my fault as a designer for failing to properly account for such a situation. I realized when going back to fix the issue that I had set a trigger there way back when to specifically cause something to happen if you tried to go back, but when I was making my fixes for 1.1.1, I mistakenly believed that you'd be approaching from the left, like with the other ones. :P
Well, before we get to talking about the red key, did you ever find the Eye powerup?Spoiler: (click to show/hide)
Actually not, only the enemy detector power-up!I see. Well, you'll need to find the eye powerup early in the level if you want any hope of finding the red or blue keys. Try starting a new game and searching for it before you speak to the mayor of Juni's village.
Thanks! that clue was all I needed to find it. It really feels like a whole different level once you get the eye.Yeah, that part is possible, just a bit harder without High Jump. You do need to save the double jump to give you that extra bit of oomph, but you also need to make good use of the current to gain the extra height you need. It may help to remember that holding down the S key with the umbrella out causes currents to lift you with more force.
I did quite a bit of progress. Usually I stay away of hard or lunatic levels... I am not so good when things get challenging. However I this time I took the challenge! question:Spoiler: (click to show/hide)
Well thank you for the tips. I managed to do the jump thanks to holding S. Great level! I had fun trying and trying to advance as it got more and more difficult. At the end I had to give up here:I'm glad you had a good time with it. I'm not too surprised that the screen you mentioned is where you got stuck. I think that is commonly cited as the hardest screen (that isn't secret, at any rate). Maybe one day you can come back and give it another go, so don't throw away your save file.I evaluated it and tried several times and I am convinced this is as as far as I can go, but I am still happy with what I managed!Spoiler: (click to show/hide)
I also couldn't manage to do the next jump here to get to the secret area:Spoiler: (click to show/hide)
