Title: [Large / Hard / Challenge / Puzzle / Maze] Who kidnaps the Knytts

One day Juni's friend disappears, and she decides to investigate...

So finally I've finished my first level which I started more than 3 years ago, though I made breaks.

The first part is open world, the second is straightforward. There are also some puzzles.

After playing this level, I can conclude, at least for now, that I will be unable to finish it.

Not sure if it's different for any of you, but I cannot outrun the rising lava after escaping the prison compound. I simply cannot move fast enough.

The level itself was pretty nice up to that point. Really big, too. I especially admire how the caves are wired. I'd say you have a bright future in this bidniss if you keep it up.

Sorry to hear about that! Apparently my CPU is weak to shift between screens quickly, and I relied on that fact.

TIL spikes can be avoided by hologram. Made a custom object.

I'm enjoying the level a lot so far! Right now I'm looking for all the symbols.

It's a nice throwback to the classic open, large levels in the good old days.  :)

• I do enjoy how open it is.
• I like the music
• I like the connector cave
• I like the "Hi, Juni!"
• Powerups are well spaced
• I've found no wallswims or other hiccups.
• Good use of save points

I am looking forward to finishing this one.  C)

Well, I am stuck where the lava first appears. I cannot outrun it to squeeze through that crack.

First off, I have to say that I loved tree city. I wish there was more of it to explore. Maybe there is, and I just haven't found it yet. I had to cheat my way past the lava (I had the second version.) I really like the way you handled some of the cut-scenes. They felt like slow-motion action scenes from a movie, high suspense for still images.

The way you hid the codes for the combination door was well done. The super secret room with the lady giving hints was reasonable. But those keys are insane! I had already scoured the open world several times looking for combination codes, so I was surprised to hear I missed all of the keys. After thoroughly searching Tick-tock City again I opened the editor to look. I found the purple and the red keys in the editor, and both locations are just cruel. There's no way I'd have ever found them honestly, and it's a shame because you must have put a lot of work into these other 7 endings I haven't seen. I think you should give us the Detector power and put green indicators on the entrances to these hiding places.

Sorry, to be so emotional about it. It's only because I really enjoyed the level up to that point, and I wish I could have gotten at least a little further before giving up.

I considered about giving detector after the end of the game, but than I thought that it would be very easy to find keys.
And, red key is hard to find, really? I thought it was obvious to go there :/

So your fixed version did help me reach the "worst" ending. Or what I assume is the worst ending.  :)

I will echo what egomassive said... I had to cheat to find the keys.

Now I am having trouble solving the boiler puzzle without EVER emptying boiler 2 down to 0. Are you sure its possible??

EDIT:

Nevermind, it is possible! BUT YOU CANNOT MAKE A SINGLE WRONG MOVE or you will get into a state from which it is impossible to recover! That was my problem. You might consider disabling the saves between "pours" so that the user can always "recover" via ctrl-r.

Ah yes, you can CTRL-R to reset it. Sorry about that!

Sorry, it wasn't the red key, it was the blue one. Even after seeing it in the editor the other day it took me over 30 minutes of running around the underground to find it. The underground is so confusing. As a maze it is quite good. I wonder if it's even possible to draw a 2D map of it that would be of any use.

Alright, alright! I'm happy to say I finally beat this bad boy, with the "best" ending!  8)

And it took me two nights to figure out the Boiler problem. But I've uploaded my, errr, spreadsheet to get me the solution and most available states, if anyone is interested.  :nuts:

So let's start with the bad:

• The challenges had a VERY steep curve in the "good ending" end bit. Most of the level was maybe "Normal" or "Hard," maybe a couple "Very Hard" screens... but the entire "good ending" had many pixel-perfect jumps, including one where you had to exploit an enemy's glitch. (x1008,y953). Not saying this is unacceptable, it was just a little too difficult for my taste. (I am proud to say I did beat these parts without cheating!)  :D
• While I loved most of your environments in a quirky way, I also felt they were... two-dimesnional? Maybe it was your lack of backgrounds? I'm not sure, but while I did enjoy Clock City and Tree City, they also felt very "flat" to me. Maybe that's part of its charm. If that was intentional, then kudos, if not, then maybe take a look at that in the future.  :shifty:
• While I loved playing your level, your grammar needs work and I think was responsible for making it feel a little... unprofessional to me. I think if it had good grammar, it would've been a solid "A" instead of what feels like an "A minus"  :S
• As I said, I cheated to find the keys. :sigh:
• The music was a little too loud in some areas.

And the good:

• This level clearly took a ton of work!  :whoa: Clearly more work than I've seen in most KS, you've definitely put a TON of effort into this! Great job getting it out there!  You get a :hiddenstar:
• Environments were excellent! I especially liked Clock City, Tree City, the caves, the far east, the far west, the lab... I guess most of it. :)
• I was actually impressed by the story! I liked the "twists," all of them! I honestly wasn't expecting them!  :^^:
• I loved the King's answer to the kidnappings:

• The difficulty, for the most part, was spot on. I was able to reach an ending without trying too hard. The puzzles to this ending were fair.
• Speaking of puzzles, very innovative puzzles! Very impressive, especially with the pouring puzzles and the ending chess puzzle!
• Music always fit the mood.
• As I said above, Powerups are well spaced, I found no wallswims or voids, and you definitely had great use of save points.
• I like that you've got different endings for each contingency.
• I really like that you've got the ability to restart each time where the choices start to matter... no need to run through the first 3/4 of the level every time for a new ending!  C)p

I encourage you to make more levels for us to play! And ask for help (even from us!) with things like the grammar if you need to!

I will definitely replay this and encourage everyone to give it a try! :)

I'm not sure what glitch you mean. What I was expecting is to jump from the right side with the umbrella, float close enough to those enemies, fall to the screen below, float left, double-jump, and you are behind the enemies.

Actually, making decorations was my least favorite part :S
