I bet everyone has seen them.

What are those for? And why have i so far just seen them on Mods? And how do i get one?
They seem only accessible to Mods, but can i, the average forumer, get a title? And if not, why not? Please answer!

Because only mods/admins can have tiny shards of wisdom as their custom title.
But yeah, it would be cool if the mindless crowd regular forumers got one.

It indeed seems to be something an admin gets. When I still was one, I could change it in my profile. Apparently I cannot anymore.

Hey LPChip? Could you please inform me of just what went down in the "I'm Stepping down..." board? I'm absolutely dumbfounded with the fact that Nifflas himself was banned. Has this happened before?

No. But I'd say, just read everything. Much more than that (aside from what he actually said) didn't happen. But I'm not going to make public what he said. Its too insulting.
I have to say that I don't think it was ban worthy, but it wasn't right to say it either. But honestly, I don't really care anymore. I don't administrate the forum anymore anyway.

It must be like some online games, where any changes made when you have a subscription stay after you un-subscribe. You just can't change them anymore.

No. Nifflas never was banned. He weared a label saying so, but since he still was administrator (yes, I was also one but camouflaged it as well) he could still post and moderate and so.

Even if I completely get my admin rights revoked. As long as the forum is run on my servers, I can do practically anything by altering the database directly. X)

I've had a brief talk with other staff members and the outcome is that we're not going to change them just because you ask for it.
People who have a custom title now is because they deserve it. These members have done a lot for this community and deserves to have this "special" tag. (this does not include being awesome)
You can always set the personal text with anything you desire (to to a certain length).

You and I both know that wasn't what he meant, Salmon. He meant those with custom titles give a lot to this little community. What have you done to deserve it? I'll even add this: What have I done to deserve it? LPChip has been a mod for a while, banning spammers, working on the new KS Archive, etc. Are you saying HE doesn't deserve it?

It all depends on how you behave, maybe being helpful beyond normal expectations. There isn't a set certain thing which'd coin you one, it's pretty dependent of the situation. Administ- and moderators will decide on it and make sure anyone adequately distinguished get what they deserve.
Asking/begging for one is a certain way to not get one. ;)
As a side-note, I'm annoyed that I don't have a Nobel prize on anything. Lots of other people have 'em too! Thinking they're better. Grumble grumble. <_<

Beta tester is a usergroup like [banned], administrator, global moderator, and super moderator.

They didn't after the KS testing, so I'm going to wager no.

Betatesting is not something special. Nifflas asks for help, and he gets it. In return, the beta testers get to play a game no one else can play at that time. That alone is a privilege.
So, it aint gonna happen. But your action has to be pretty extraordinary for it to get a title. See the title thingy as "Its the least we can do" kind of thing.

To clarify what I said earlier (http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=3042.msg36142#msg36142), I meant having a CT Is a privilege only the mods and people that work behind the scenes have. Kinda like the staff at a concert.
