Saw this on Gaia Online and thought it was cool.
Rules
- Take a theme, such as "zombies" and the next user finds as many zombie songs as they can. Then can get all ten, or, if they can't, the next user picks up where they left off.
- The person that posts the 10th song for that theme must post another theme for the next user.
- Try to refrain from using any search engine or anything like that, unless everyone is stumped.
- You can not post songs for a theme you suggested.
- Furthermore, once your theme ends, you can not post the last song on the next theme.
- Ex:
USER1
Theme is zombies.
USER2
1. Walk Like a Zombie - The Horrorpops
2. Bad Idea - Lemon Demon
USER3
3. Zombie Eaters - Faith No More
4. I Walked With a Zombe - R.E.M.
...
10. Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
The new theme is space.
USER4
1. Supermassicve Black Hole - Muse, etc.
Get it? Good. Now, the theme is carpe diem. (Meaning "seize the day" for those that don't know. ;) )
-
So um... Is there any way to "win", or is this just about song spamming?
-
You can win the current theme, just like picture competition.

Why is winning important? It's about trying to find songs about a specific theme. A lot of others on this board you can't win, like this ill-fated game. (http://nifflas.ni2.se/forum/index.php?topic=60.0)
NINJ-EDIT: It's not like that, Purple. It's whoever posted the 10th song on a given theme choses the next theme. But like I said, not all games require winning. Take Knytt Stories environmentals for example. ;)

But you can time it right to post the 10th song, and knowing a lot of songs helps you there.

So we must post music themes? Not songs?
-
9_9 Read the first post.

True...*adds a rule*

Ok.. sounds like a fun game.
1. Hero of the day - Metallica
2. Rise today - Alter Bridge
-
A couple questions, if you don't mind:
-Do the songs have to be well-known, i.e. can I take advantage of my enormous collection of modules?
-How broadly can themes be interpreted? I honestly have no idea about this and fear that I'll look stupid if I post something that doesn't fit. For that matter, who decides what fits?

1. No, they don't.
2. Think of the song as a book. What's the book's theme? If it's about living for the moment, then it's acceptible. And only whoever posts it decides what fits. If something really doesn't fit, I doubt anyone would notice. (Not that it's okay to post something like that. ^-^;)

Im the only one who have posted songs... <_<
Do I win or something?

There's no winning, and we need 1 songs. (This was popular on Gaia, why not here?)

*cough* 10 *cough*

@ Purple: XD Whoops. Do you have any songs you'd like to post? (Please?)
@ Salmoneous: No, it's just nobody likes this game. T-T
-
I think maybe "carpe diem" was a bit of an obscure theme to introduce a game with.
3. Suitcase Calling - The Polyphonic Spree

YAY! :awsum: A post!
-
i agree with gorf. carpe diem is a pretty hard theme to use... :S

I also recall a "Themes can be interpreted loosely."
-
Gah, I'll post some then, even though I'm breaking my own rules. o_x (Also, it'd be easier to see all of the songs if we just added on to what's already been posted like this.)
1. Hero of the Day - Metallica
2. Rise Today - Alter Bridge
3. Suitcase Calling - The Polyphonic Spree
4. Seize the Day - Avenged Sevenfold
...Wow, guess you guys were right. XD Fine then. New theme: Songs with uncommon* punctuation marks in them.
*"Uncommon" meaning "not parenthesis and periods."
-
New theme: Songs with uncommon* punctuation marks in them.
Heaven forfend we witness the posting of any Linkin Park songs.
And I use the term songs in the widest of it's meaning possible.

1. I think you're referring to "Pts.Of.Athrty", "Enth E ND", "FRGT/10", "P5shing Me A*wy", "PLC. 4 Mai Haed", "X-Ecutioner Syle", "H! Vltg3", "WTH>You", "Ppr: Kut", "Rnw@y", "My>DSMBR", "Kyur4 TH Ich", and "1Stp Klosr" from the Reanimation CD? (They're remixed of older Linkin Park songs (besides a couple) such as "Points of Authority", "In The End", "Forgotten", "Pushing Me Away", "Place For My Head", "Executioner Style", "High Voltage", "With You", "Papercut", "Runaway", "My December", "Cure for the Itch", and "One Step Closer".) I liek Linkin Park. :D But you can post those (I can't; I chose the theme) except those that exclusively have dashes (-) and periods.

*"Uncommon" meaning "not parenthesis and periods."
This theme is harder.. Just take somethng easy and the game will roll.

Alright, how about songs with numbers in them. <_<

88 linnes about 44 women by The Nails and later (among others) They might be giants?
1000 miles an hour, Ok Go
22 Acacia Avenue, Iron Maiden
Song 2, Blur
Perhaps also
25 Diamonds, Camera Obscura
Please note that these songs do not denote my primary musical tastes.
I shudder to think that Pumpkinbot can master advanced, for the internet's standard, punctuation and yet insist on using it for writing out those tracks.
Did I win?

There's no winning. It's like the Picture Competition, but, instead, when you post the 10th song (which you did), you post a new theme (which you didn't). And it'd be a lot simpler if you quote/copy and paste the previous songs. ;) Though you don't have to.
-
How about the theme Fresh.
As you are.
-
Fresh - Daft Punk X)
-
2. Bob Dylan – New Morning
