So this is (I'm afraid) partly a tedious request for level suggestions, but I also hope people will post their favourite levels regardless of whether they fit what I'm looking for  :P (I only ask that you make it clear if you're suggesting a level I try ^^)

I'm currently playing at, the consensus seems, hard to very hard depending, of course, on the creators view of difficulty  ;) I recently became moderately competent at precision jumping, wall-hugging and umbrella-hovering courtesy of Colors and both Frozen Mountain stages and I'm looking for more levels in a similar vein that people rate highly. The Knytt Stories Level Archive is very good in and of itself, but lacks any kind of rating system or even means for the author to input the descriptors of their level, turning it into a form of lucky dip. I've had a lot of success with the KS Level Releases section of this forum but I'm well aware that's only a very small cross-section of the available options  :(

The Phantom Apparatus (ValchVania)
Remembrance (si)

The Life ruby (RangerX)

I might have missed some levels I would have wanted on the list, but I'm not in the mood to look through all my level pages. :P

Note: These aren't my favorite levels. I just made a list of levels I think you'd like.

I have Afar and The Life Ruby, though the rest I've not heard of... *goes to download* :P
I do, however, have your Lone Traveller (is v3 current?) and it laughs in my face.

Those are the ones I've enjoyed the most.

@Lucifuga: Colors is definitely one of my favourites aswell. I've given Gaia a couple of goes but I don't think I've approached it in the right mindset yet; there's a lot of detail and the world seems really interesting but I've always ended up itching for a challenge  :P I'll try it next time Escape from Pain or Frozen Mountain absolutely stumps me I think  :^^:

Dark Sky of Wish Mountain I played after seeing there was a ProtonJon LP for it. After having had Don't eat the mushroom spoiled for me before I first played KS I stopped it right away and started playing. Definitely a lot of fun, and a bit easier than most of the levels I'm playing right now so it was great for a de-stress  ;)

hehe Maybe slightly evil. It caught me by surprise after the safe, quiet lead-up   :^^: I do wish I could make some progress, I really like the atmosphere. More practice first...  :P

Oh yes. I love that LP. Still I think DeceasedCrab's Knytt Stories LPs are better.

DC did a LP of Colors, The Machine and A Strange Dream among with some more. Those are pure gold.
Even HCBaily did a LP of a Knytt Stories level.
Those three are my favorite LPers.

There's a favorite levels topic here. (http://nifflas.ni2.se/forum/index.php?topic=427.0) You could check out the levels people are suggesting. As for me, I like Core (http://www.knyttlevels.com/levels/Fredrik%20Andersson%20-%20Core.knytt.bin) by Fredrick Andersson, and Wild Knytt (http://www.knyttlevels.com/levels/Drakkan%20-%20Wild%20Knytt.knytt.bin) by Drakkan.

EDIT: Links don't work right now, Knyttlevels is down. Hopefully they'll start working soon. I guess it was just me.

Yeah, I noticed when someone more sensible than me used the search function and bumped it to the top... like I should have done  :oops: Thankyou for the pointer all the same.

I have run through that topic and checked out quite a few of the levels mentioned but I don't have the two you mentioned; gonna try those out now. Hopefully this thread will die out shortly, but thankyou again to everyone who contributed all the same  :^^:

YAY self-indulgence!

By far, Frozen Mountain and FM2 (the old one, not the new one as much). Those levels - particularly FM2 - are absolutely incredible. I think FM2 is my favorite level ever.

However, I do also very much like Si's Rememberance and the other one... those levels are very long and pretty difficult, but they for my money capture the mood beautifully.

Nifflas's Strange Dream, definitely.

I'm not a great fan of Colors, as good as it is. I really like the green area, and beautiful music, but the rest of it... meh.

I used to love Sky Flower, but it's a bit short.

Probably some I'm forgetting.

Spiral, by Bennity, is the best level ever.
Also: Training Grounds, Don't Eat the Mushroom and It Waits.

Gaia - most overestimated level. It's just because it's so big and so much to explore. But the environments are rather basic, not only that but the whole level itself. It's not outstanding or original in any way, it's an average level in my opinion.

I don't *think* this list contains any betas, I could be wrong. Anyway, these are all of my favourite levels from the old forum (again excluding betas). I should probably follow up with a better up to date list. Also you should know that a lot of these levels are on the old forum, not this one. Additionally I no longer have a lot of these, so if the downloads don't work then I can't really help unfortunately. One last note: Not all of these levels have the same gameplay quality. They are picked for all sorts of reasons.
