I get this when I try to "Update World".
From what the game is saying, I'm getting the impression that this is a server issue and nothing to do with my computer, but just in case:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (32-bit).
I am running the software with administrator privileges.
The software is being run from C:\Knytt Experiment\.
My internet is fine.
Bleh.

I am getting the same thing, the server must be having problems. For right now I guess you won't be able to update the worlds.
-
Had a look into it, the problem seems to be that the server sends the data as gzipped (compressed) while the game expects it to not be.
No idea as to the cause of change in the connection behaviour, but I'll nudge this at Niff as soon as he shows himself. :)
<edit>
Ah, I believe I've found a way to sort it out too. Will just have to test it out with The Man. :P2
<edit2>
Works for me now, at least. Should be fixed. :)

Indeed, works for me now. :)

Well, I know this is kind of a necro post, but I'm getting this problem too, and I have pretty much the same stuff Exp HP had. Help?

Try it again; it's working fine for me now. Perhaps it's been put back online since you posted?

It could've been a temporary issue, but I figure if Jace or Nifflas would've fixed it, they'd post here.
Indeed, you should try again. If it still fails, please let us know too. :)

Nope, still says it.

Still working for me. I can update all three worlds (Normal, Experimental, and Other Areas), and I can do so regardless of whether I choose the regular executable or the "V-Sync" one.
Here's pretty much what you should see when you get it to work for the first time:Connecting...

(et cetera for all other areas)
My best guess as to why it's not working for you would be that maybe you have a different version... Compare this image to your main menu. Check the build number as well as the text in the lower right.

Just tried, works fine for me. Sure you don't have a firewall or something blocking it?
There WAS an actual problem with the server when the first post was made, but that was sorted as mentioned few posts down from it. :)

Nope, still says:

Error: Unexpected server response.
I have build 013, and I don't have a firewall blocking it.

This is turning into a tech support thread. :P
I believe this still may be a software issue, even if it isn't your firewall. Try booting into Safe Mode (with Networking) and see if that makes a difference.
(note: I'm not sure if wireless internet will work in Safe Mode, even with networking enabled. If you have wireless, you may want to try plugging an ethernet cable directly into your computer if possible.)

If you are able to connect to the internet, you don't need to test your internet connection, as it will be fine.
I would advice to download the game again and do a fresh install (making a backup of your current game) and see if that helps.
