Knytt Stories Level Releases / Re: [misc][easy] - Tales of Tales
« on: September 16, 2009, 15:21:15 »

How much difference is there between playing it in KS and KSA? I'd like to play it in KSA, but my KSA seems to be dying (buggy as hell and deteriorating), so I'd prefer stable KS... but only if the look of the level won't suffer  too much.

The difference between KS and KSA is purely cosmetic, but not to the degree that it would ruin your experience without it. Kind of like playing a game with and without AGEIA physX.

I really like this level. It seems so random yet oddly connected.
Also, I love that piano song. I was wondering if it would be okay for me to play parts of that at a recital?

By all means, please do! I was visiting my mom during the winter holidays when I recorded the song on my eeepc. Basically that means no copyright whatsoever (and explains the bad quality!).

Fun level. I love the custom objects. Can you publish the co's?

I suppose I could zip it, upload it, and provide a link. But, isn't the custom objects already available in the "Worlds/Diago - Tales of Tales" directory? Consider this as my personal stamp of approval on using whatever content you like. While you're at it, try out my first time tilesets and OC's in "Oil".

A mish mash (yes, that) of some random game ideas I had. Varying in quality, incohesive, but not broken. Here be dragons.

I recommend Knytt Stories Advanced, but it's playable without.

Really engrossing, action packed content for cat lovers everywhere. Except for the bit at the end. Try to ignore that bit.

Considering:

Think honestly about these questions before using anything you didn't make yourself or already got the permission to use.
  • Can I get the required permission to use the material legally?

Just being curious...

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl soundtrack has been released to the public. That's enough green light for my scheming enterprises.

I like this level, and the new tileset. Good job on the animations as well.
Maybe not a long game after all, but at least it all sticks together.

Excellent work. Exactly what a Knytt Story ought to be.

Environmental, experience-based level I made. Short, etc.

Edit:
After some contemplation at the positive feedback, I decided to fix the mentioned errors.

Made it up to the first room in the castle, but then I had a good hard look at myself and stopped playing.

Playing difficult levels for the sake of completing them seems rather hollow to me. Although I think the hardcore Knytt players (you know, those that keep insisting to the designer a level labelled hard is actually easy) should have a ball with this one.

For the most part decent and interesting combinations of challenges. Personally though I hold the view that if you're going to put the player through a hard time at least supplement it with consistent ambience/music and proper backdrops.

One of my levels from a while ago, brought back from the dead.

Might be confusing and odd to some, especially in the late game, but just go with it and have a fun time.

EDIT:

In all honesty, this was my second level, the first being World Fantastic as lamarblake aptly mentions. I used it as a testing ground for my more unusual ideas, such as the custom ambients, gradients and shifts. It is short, yes, but the motivation wasn't to create a storyline so much as a experience.
Thanks for all the feedback/criticism. Now that I have some free time again (first time in about a year) I'm starting on another new level, hopefully just as detailed but more focused in its implementation.
