Development Showcase / [App] Sequencism - iPad music sequencer
« on: October 14, 2017, 00:30:58 »
Hi everyone,

Some years ago, I started learning music composition, just for fun. One day, I thought: "ey, the tool I want to have does not exist yet". So, what I did? Yup, instead of learning, I did that tool  :P2 . So, if any of you have an iPad, you can use this for free:

Anyway, it is good that I came here, as It seems there is a new Nifflas game I know nothing about! Time to check it!  C)

Knytt Stories / Juni jumps around in "1001 Spikes" (cameo)
« on: May 24, 2014, 04:26:27 »
Hi all,

So, I was reading Destructoid and suddenly the world "Knytt" jumped over my face like a wild pokemon. I clicked on the article... And voila, Juni will be a playable character in a game called "1001 Spikes". Although, as you can guess from the title of the game, this is not going to be a contemplative and zen game  :P2.

KNYTT STORIES MOBILE - TAKE JUNI ON THE GO!

What?
Knytt Stories. Android. iOS (iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad,...). Do I need to say more?  XD
The primary goal is to implement the original Knytt Stories release (Tutorial + "The Machine") on mobile devices, and release it for free on Google Play and the Apple App Store. Later, Nifflas can choose what to do with the expansion ;) .

How?
I am using the original Knytt Stories DS source code and an application development suite (marmalade) that provides full support for C/C++ cross-platform mobile development.

Where?
I am testing KSM on my Samsung Galaxy S II and my iPod Touch. Later, I'll do some more tests in the iPad too. Note that it is very difficult to create the look&feel of the game due to the wildly different screen sizes - But I have a couple of ideas in mind to suit all potential gamers.

When?
Although porting the DS code to marmalade is not a difficult task, there might be some major problems ahead. So, I think I can give an estimated release date of Q4 2012 (October-December 2012).

These are the subsystems that remain to be coded:
  • GUI Subsystem. Management of portrait and landscape views.
  • Menu Subsystems. Splash screen, Main screen, Credits, Options, Load game.
  • Game Subsystems. Cutscenes, Management of game states, Optimizations.
  • Cache Subsystems.
  • Sound / Music Subsystems.
  • Specific mobile platform code (iOS, Android).
  • Optimize everywhere!

Why?
After playing around with the marmalade development suite just for fun, I wondered whether the Knytt Stories DS code could be ported to a mobile environment. It was a lot more easier than I thought. And I have a bit of free time...so I thought, "Ey, let's bring Juni to the mobile crowd" 8D .

Media?
Right now, just a couple of photos:

Portrait mode. In this orientation, Juni will be controlled by a virtual game pad.

Landscape mode. In this orientation, Juni will be controlled either by a virtual game pad or by virtual buttons located at the side of the screen (depends on the screen size).

Hi!

After buying the full version, I am trying to start the game in the Perpetuum Factory level, but it seems I have to start from the beginning. Is there any way to import the save from the demo version to the full version? Thanks!  C)

Hi all,

As you may know, I do not have Multimedia Fusion, thus cannot know the behaviour of certain critters (cannot look @ KS source). Sometimes looking at (self-made) videos and other stuff help me on discovering the behaviour of critters (e.g. the shadow woman, who turns evil when you look at her), but for some other stuff (e.g. the nature FX bank) is a bit difficult.

The purpose of this thread is to... ask for help! I'll post some questions from time to time regarding the behaviour of some critters, and I'll be thankful for every answer  :^^: .

QUESTION 10: The last question! Now, there are only two things I want to know...

  • Bank 0: The behaviour of shifts...
  • ...and Juni's movement.

Merry Xmas!

Already answered questions:

QUESTION 1: What are the parameters of the critters in bank 7? (Nature FX). With behaviour I mean: gravity, speed, etc.
QUESTION 2: What are the parameters of the "flower" bank? (bank 9). My problem here are the particles... really don't know what are their parameters   .
QUESTION 3: Bank 6! (Traps). Objects 1-4 are my biggest headaches. Any help?  C)
QUESTION 4: Now is time for Bank 11 - Disks! My main problem with these critters is the particles they launch (I kinda can figure the movement, although help is also appreciated on that particular point)
QUESTION 5: Robots! Lasers are easy to understand (those and object 13 are already implemented, see the website), but the other critters... oh, the other critters and their particles...   :moody:
QUESTION 6: Earth beings (bank 14)! Those are a lot of critters, so take your time...  ;)
QUESTION 7: Creepy (bank 17)! Bank 14 is almost finished, so is time to move to a new bank...
QUESTION 8: Meanies (bank 4)! Once this bank is finished... well, there is still a loooong way to go (birds in B2, some ghosts in B12...), but all banks will have plenty of critters finished  C)p
QUESTION 9: Massive questions! Lots of critters from many banks!. Please, take your time here, no need to rush  ;)
- Bank 0: The behaviour of shifts
- Bank 2 (Flyers): 8,13,23,25-32
- Bank 8 (Deco): 10,17
- Bank 10 (Bouncer): 4,6,7
- Bank 12 (Ghost): 6,9,12-16
- Bank 18 (Water): 6
[/list]
