Alright then! :)  I made one last set of uploads: The Knytt conversion package by Looki, and then a handful of additional tilesets by Elder which I was previously worried might be banned from use.

Good luck with your efforts working on this. You're doing a great job!

This archive represents important preservation of KS community history, so thank you for keeping it updated. (Thank you especially for including my own assets as well!)

After downloading the latest version of this archive just now, I decided to have a quick browse through my own personal collection of KS community assets to see if I could find anything that your archive is currently missing. This quick search resulted in me uploading about 45 files to the Dropbox upload link that you provided. Whilst I'm sure I made some mistakes in my haste (skipping needed files, uploading un-needed files, uploading assets that might be "banned" from use) I otherwise hope I was able to provide a mostly-helpful contribution to this project.

Let me know via private message whether there's anything else you can think that I possibly could do to help.  :)

---

EDIT: I found a couple of extra gradients that I had missed and uploaded those to the Dropbox link. I might have also uploaded the custom music I made for one of my old custom levels, but I've already forgotten.

There's something else I found where I felt I should ask first before I uploaded it: somewhere in my PC I've found a folder full of assets from Nifflas' game "Knytt" which have been converted into Knytt Stories assets by a user named Looki. This package includes conversions of all of Knytt's music, ambiences, gradients and tilesets as well as Custom Object representations of some of its animated elements. Is this the sort of content you would want to have in the archive? Or would it not be appropriate?

This level blew me away and surprised me to an extent that I'd forgotten a KS level could do. It did a lot of things that I couldn't imagine were possible with KS, and left me grinning with a feeling of "expanded possibilities" which I haven't felt since a decade ago when I played Gaia. Well done!

Aside from its various surprises, my favourite qualities of this level were its polish and attention-to-detail. The package as a whole feels well-executed and tested. I especially love that it has hidden routes and areas to reward players who go the extra mile to explore its boundaries.

Other thoughts I had during my playthrough of the level:

Massive congratulations to yourself and anyone else who helped you develop this level. It's fantastic work!

Nice to hear from you again. Your tilesets are legendary, made so many levels look a lot better! I used some of them in my creations as well.

Thank you! I'm glad you found my tilesets to be helpful. I downloaded Saving Thalanill earlier, so I'll be playing that later this week!

Knytt Stories - Custom Content / Re: All KS Custom Content Archive
« on: September 24, 2020, 14:15:17 »
Is this archive still being updated? I have my own (fairly large) hoard of KS community assets which I've hung on to over the years. After searching through this archive here, I've identified items I could contribute which the archive doesn't currently have.

I noticed this thread has a link to a page on Dropbox where it appears I can submit the files myself. Would I necessarily have to upload my files to Dropbox first before I could share them? Or would it be possible for me to just upload them directly from my computer?

Thank you so, so much for making this brilliant archive by the way! You've done important work in preserving assets of the KS community that might otherwise be lost.

Never thought I'd live the experience of bumping a forum thread 9 years later after I previously posted in it, but here we are.

To anyone still here: I've just nuked the entire first post of this thread and refreshed it with a new set of uploads of all of my old tilesets, as well as a few new ones.

Huge, massive thank you to the user the jack for posting here back in 2014 to re-upload my tilesets seeing as the original uploads had disappeared. I'm extremely grateful that you kept my work available for others to use at a time when I was absent. That means a lot to me, so thank you.

Knytt Stories Level Previews / Re: [Environmental] Falling Water
« on: July 19, 2012, 01:57:59 »
I don't know why I've only decided to post just now, but I want you to know that I have been keeping an eye on this thread for a long time and I am very excited to see the results of your work, Hmpf. At one point a while back, some of the preview screenshots you posted were what inspired me to carry on with my current level project again at a time when I had paused it.
A random bit of advice; make sure you are backing up the file for this level that you are putting so much work in to, preferably on an external piece of hardware like a memory stick. You wouldn't want to lose it accidentaly one day whilst sweeping your computer's hard drive or something!
Sorry if the advice is a little redundant, it's just the sort of thing I would worry about.

I bet you all thought I was dead, didn't you? Well I'm not and I'm back with TEN new or updated tilesets for all of you to use as you see fit.
You can find them by scrolling to the bottom this thread's first post.

I've actually had most of these up my sleeve for months, I just haven't posted them up here due to laziness.

Work on that massive level I said I was making is still under way, but it'll still be a long while before I have a playable version to upload. Sorry!
To prove to you that I am actually making a level that will be playable some day, the screenshots I've provided with the new tilesets are all screens from my level.

Critique or requests for edits are welcome.

It's hard to get away from that black outline, isn't it?

Ocasionally, yeah.  :(

Made an update of "Desert Temple" with more distinguishable foreground tiles and brighter sand that matches the waterfalls more. The old version of the tileset is still available for those who prefer it.

Very nice.  The round-edged squares for use with the pipes is very hand and needed.  I also love the large pipe set up.  Handy!  :)  Also, (and here I'm just being anal) I like the layout with the grass to the left instead of on top.  It is a cleaner, more orderly tileset that way, imho.

The colors do seem a bit punchy to me too.  The orange red looks very "out of the tube" to use an art class term.  In other words, it feels like a clean and freshly made, manufactured color rather than a dirty, poisoned surface in an industrial waste.  I would add a dingy tone that contrasts with the orange/red, like an almost nasty green/brown.  This would give you a tarnished looked that would nicely contrast with the radioactive bright colors.  Nothing brings out a bright color like a dingy contrasting one.

The red bumps on these blocks remind me of legos.  I love legos.  :)

Red stuff is waste not plant?  I think it looks a little too much like plant then.  I never would have seen it as anything other than a plant.  Again, I think it is partially due to looking too vibrant to be a waste product.

Your idea for how you will use this sounds really cool.  Ever read Battle Angel Alita?

Thank you for this feedback! :D I might re-design the waste material and make it that dirty, dingy colour you talked about. That would make it more recognizable as waste and would bring out the bright colours too, like you said. Does that sound like a good idea? (I won't delete the old version of the tileset in the process though, it'll just be an alternate.)

And no, I haven't read Battle Angel Alita. What's it about?

EDIT: How's this? I thought I'd have your say before I release it:

At first I didn't like the newest one because it seemed redundant, but now that I look at it more closely I see that it's an interesting mix between Poisonous Forest and Not Quite Dr. Cliche's Lab, which could be quite useful, especially for people who are tired of both.

Oh, and thanks by the way because that was more or less exactly the effect I was aiming for. You may also notice elements of the A Strange Dream "lab" tileset in there as well with the background pipes. This may be more apparant in the indoor sections with this tileset that you'll see in my current level project, although I'm not sure for now because I'm not quite at those sections yet.
Of course, there are my own ideas in there as well, though! That fluffy red stuff that looks like dense treetops is actually piles of waste material. This whole tileset it infact themed arround an area of forest that has become the waste disposal pit of a city that is built somewhere above it. That'll be it's purpose in my level, anyway.

Thank you Bulbapuck, and how do you mean "stiff colours" Salmoneous? I'm interested.  :)

Edit: I meant Bulbapuck, not Bubapack.  :sigh: I type way too fast, you know.

Also you seem to have broken the original posting of Ickle Forest.

Thanks for telling me that, I fixed it now.

the previously mentioned new tileset is finished and contained in the first post of this thread.
