Short, simple challenge level. There's really not much to say! In case you're wondering, though, this is actually a new level from me. It doesn't have many bells and whistles as you might expect from some of my abandoned previews. Sorry to disappoint! I hope you folks still enjoy it regardless, though.

Grab it here.

Content Load Success is a challenging little level, and it's going to test you. But not in a mad AI sort of way. It doesn't have a story. I would eventually like to have some music to go with it, but as it stands I'm not good at that myself right now. You might've seen this screenshot before, a long time ago, but here it is:

Knytt Stories Level Releases / [Small/Misc/Easy] An Attempt At Art
« on: January 25, 2013, 20:33:05 »
Once upon a time, I made many levels. Most of them are buried in a beta zone I like to call "Mt. Testmore". One, though, happens to be a small level that slowly gets added onto from time to time. It's an art level. Or an attempt at one. This is that level.

Please don't expect much. It's old and extremely small! Have fun! :)

Envious of Extravagance in Errors

Once upon a time, a young girl, a collect- oh, sorry. I'll save that for later. For now gaze upon this very interesting screenshot:

The level's going to contain a lot of firsts for me, and unlike pretty much every other level I've ever started (a lot), I have a plan. A big plan. And it's been planned for a long time now.

Here's a breakdown of what I'm trying to work with here:

- Will use KS+ to the fullest extent.
- Contain (as per my usual) mostly if not all my own tilesets and gradients.
- Intention to release most assets for community use after completion.
- Has a story. A good story.
- Medium to longer length.
- "Looks decent and plays decent" goal. (or better, hopefully)
- Actual sound/non-default stuff.
- Non-confusing level design, but plenty of places to explore.

I'm working on the basis that if there's something to improve upon in my level making, it'll be in this level.

So this is my first level in a while. I'm going to cut to the chase; it's short, there's a few challenges (nothing very hard), and there's absolutely no story. But I enjoyed the tileset combination as well as the initial challenges I made so much, that I refined that and added on.

I might expand at a later date, it really depends. For now, enjoy what's here. Comments/Questions/Feedback are appreciated!

Development Showcase / BloxMaster's Desktop Backgrounds
« on: November 16, 2011, 12:21:16 »
Right, so I make desktop backgrounds. Lots of them. So, I am going to share a few.

A few notes:
Please don't redistribute, etc.
The size of these are Full HD or above, in some cases. (1920x1080)
The actual file sizes should be around 600kb or less. So it shouldn't be extremely horrifying to download.
That said, the quality of these files are slightly less than the originals, but hopefully not badly.
Comments and questions are welcome!

Right so that's it, folks, thanks for stopping by! :)

NightSky / NightSky 3DS?
« on: August 25, 2011, 22:42:00 »
Apparently Nicalis (company behind making the -yet-to-be-released- WiiWare version of NightSky, and also the WiiWare and DSiWare and upcoming 3DS version of the ever popular Indie game "Cave Story") is severely hinting at a 3DS version of "Night Sky", presumably one you can buy in a physical store. Anyone have further details on this? My guess is that it's going to be in 3D, so anyone think that's a neat idea? Personally I've already bought it, but I admit to being sort of a sucker for the 3D effects, and plus, it -is- a nifflas game. A fairly good one. Can't go wrong with that. But still, love to hear what the rest of you think.

EDIT: Due to Paula's really rather harsh complaint over what I tried to make really understandable but obviously wasn't, I'm going to simply rephrase it as thus: Please try to keep it on topic to specifically just NightSky 3DS. Thank you.

Knytt Stories / What level type do you prefer/want to see?
« on: December 11, 2010, 00:32:27 »
Of the levels types, it'd be interesting to know what people prefer to play.

The major groups include Environmental, Challenge, and Misc, but let's not forget Puzzle, Maze, Trick Jump (not an official category), and Playground, too.
Please mention your favorites, and if possible, why you like them, or why they appeal to you.
This is more of a general opinion gathering, so you don't need to base it on anyone's specific levels. Imagine that you've played a perfect level of each type you wish to discuss; which would you prefer?

I'll start:

I seem to prefer challenges (short of lunatic). They cover a wide variety of genres and often have exciting and interesting play mechanics. Unlike a few other level types, challenges can be made from any environment and can be very realistic, bland, pretty, boring, etc. depending on the wish of the level maker. I especially like challenges that are not just jumping and avoiding things. Challenges seem the most interesting to me when they have a lot of elements from the other styles too.

Not many of you may remember this, but my first level was called "The Ghost World". It was a decent level (I would not call it anything other than simply 'decent'). (it's still on the archive for the curious)

This level is an enhanced remake of that level. It will feature new (better) tilesets, new music hopefully, and most of all better gameplay.

If you have questions/comments about this level (or the differences between this and the original) please let me know. Thanks! :)

Here it is folks, a new level! It's short, has no plot whatsoever and has one secret.

The music is by Sarin Sunday, and is under a Creative Commons license.
The tilesets, gradients and level design is by me.

I'd like to thank my betatesters for finding a few bugs! (you know who you are!)

Hey! I haven't posted anything meaningful for a while, so I'm here to bring a few tilesets of mine to the forum!
Screenshots and the tileset(s) will be in the spoilers! Right click the tileset and press "Save as..." or "Save Image as..." to obtain the tileset or gradient. These are only to be used for Knytt Stories and only with credit, thank you and enjoy!

FiNCK Level Previews / Floating Island (WIP Title)
« on: May 21, 2010, 16:55:51 »
I'm making a FiNCK level/game, It's called Floating Island for the moment. I hope to be at least half the size of Nifflas' original game. It's going to have coins, it's going to have hard puzzles, and it's going to at least feature custom tilesets/gradients. (not sure about music yet, sorry)

Anyway, since this wouldn't be a preview without a slight spoiler, here you go:

This is one of the harder rooms! But don't worry, I like having a mix of easy and hard rooms, so hopefully it'll be enjoyable for most.

Questions, comments are welcome!

Knytt Stories Level Releases / [Challenge][Very Hard] Level 5
« on: September 17, 2009, 01:02:02 »
This is not a new level, in fact in two months it'll be a year old, but besides that, here it is, Level 5.

Level five is about a young girl (yes, her name is Juni) who has to get through puzzles in a facility. There are six puzzles in this level, the last of which is the one with the least direction, and arguably the longest to complete. In addition to the main six puzzles, there are a few hidden areas, which you may or may not understand if you haven't been on the chat last year. Please enjoy. Also, I will hopefully releasing a new level soon, for those of you who have been waiting for one.

Yes, I have to many projects, and yes I plan to finish them all eventually.

This is going to be a maze level, and will hopefully be fun to explore, there will not be any enemies or traps of any kind. It will, as per my usual, feature my own tilesets and gradients.

Hopefully this will be finished soon, but we will see.

EDIT: I have changed the level....a lot, so the screens that were here are no longer valid. The level will feature challenges based on timing and skill, not on luck, and will hopefully be big enough to get lost (but not stuck) in.
