I believe you can fix the error message you're getting by deleting the folder in the Worlds folder called "Nifflas - Template". I think it gets created when something goes wrong with making a new level.

I've found a few minor cosmetic bugs with the main menu (not sure if these have been reported).
The following buttons are not highlighted when you move the mouse over them:
- Install Level
- Get More Levels
- Credits
- About MMF
- Tilesets (1) and Back buttons in the credits menu
- Visit Website and Back buttons in the About MMF menu
- Start New Game and Load Game in the world save slot selection menu

This mod is really awesome! :)

I have a suggestion for the map system though. Maybe you can include the option for an "area" map that hides sections of the entire map until you've collected the map item for a certain area. If you don't have an area's map yet, it can still show only the screens you've already visited, and also the screens that contain the map items (so that you have an idea of where to go).

EDIT: I spent some time in the Editor and found out a way to do this, though it does take a while to set up, so maybe having a different way to do it would be better. Here is my demonstration level. This way uses Flags, Shifts, Warps, Signs, and Map Spoofing. Because there are only 10 Flags (well, 10 that I'm aware of anyway) that means you can only have up to 10 Areas. I'm still a bit rusty with the KS engine in general so there's probably a more simple way to do this. Also, this can be broken a little with the umbrella or double jump by collecting the map powerups without touching the ground square its standing on.

I liked it. I think a good maze level should be a bit... twistier, though. Not necessarily longer, just a bit more puzzling.
Spoiler: Some minor gripes (click to show/hide)
Other than that, the level was great! I really liked what you did with the tileset. It had just enough variation to give each area a distinctive "look", while still making the level look consistent.

Thanks! I see what you mean by more "twistier". I guess I didn't really make a maze at all, just a straight path for the most part.
For the transition into the cave.. Well, there wasn't too much I could do with the outside tileset that simulates a cave opening, maybe I should have looked at some other tilesets.

I'll check this out when I'm next at a computer with KS on it, but for now you should consider adding screenshots to your level release threads!

Good point, I've added some screenshots in the first post now. :)

This is my second level, made with my own tileset (except for the starting room's tileset of course). Explore a cave and gather all the keys and items to leave, enjoy!

Download here.

I have a feeling that I should have made this longer, but I sort of lost inspiration after making the darker areas.

Edit: Added screenshots below.

Oddly enough, this was quite refreshing. Classic KS plot, classic KS layout. Maybe you'd be interested in playing Salmoneus' flood level -

I agree with ixMarcel, you've got to work on the visuals a bit more - maybe not as much as the "extreme level makeover" suggests, though  :D

I've actually played his/her level before, I really liked it! :D
And I have nearly completed my tileset while designing my new level "Cave Adventure".

The whole point of environmental levels is in beautiful gfx and atmosphere. Yet your level isn't pointless at all. I don't know what category it should belong to. I feel like there should to be a category called Exploration.
This is a little level that leaves a good feeling, doesn't have bugs (or none that I've spotted), that's a good start. Good luck with your future levels too ;)

I've fixed the tagging in the title, and thanks! C)p
As of right now I'm trying to make a tileset and then maybe make another level with it.

I thought it was a very nice first level. Hopefully your next one won't take as long to make.

Haha, I hope so. The reason this one took so long was because I just made it one day and then forgot all about it (and KS, for that matter) because I was into other games. I shift between games all the time. :^^:

If it's your very first level, it is good, but you made a mistake like many others level authors - your level don't have pretty graphics . Here's example how to beautify your levels (Extreme Level Makeover):

Ah I see, thank you for pointing that out. Back in 2009 I wasn't very good at designing things, and when I was fixing everything yesterday I never paid too much attention to the background (since I was just improving everything I had already made before).

I'll try to make any future levels of mine have more scenery-content.

Hi guys, this is my first level! All you gotta do is find the 4 keys and turn off the water machine, it's a very simple level.

Let me know what you think, hopefully I'll make more levels!
Download.

My favorite song from the entire soundtrack is definitely the acoustic version of "When Morning Comes".

Mine too, I'm also downloading right now.

Great job Chris, thanks! :)

I find many exploration bits with every other couple of rooms with puzzles interesting. :)

Error when unzipping:
Quote
"C:\Users\-name-\-place where you saved it to-\Salmoneous - DSC-01.zip: CRC failed in Salmoneous - DSC-01\Music\zeit.ogg. The file is corrupt."

I think you might have to check your music file and rezip and upload again. :|

Edit: This is when I'm downloading from MediaFire. Sendspace works.

This level shows a lot of potential, I quite enjoyed it :)
Thank you! I'm actually making an extended version with 5 areas called "A Big Adventure". ;)

Though I've only found 4 coins... Are you sure there are 5?
I just played it again and my original idea was 5 coins, but I forgot to fix that error. Thanks for pointing that out! :) I might reupload it, but not right away.
