I'm getting more into songwriting, and have a huge craving for some good new poetry or other inspirational literature. Any books/artists that anyone can recommend? I'm specifically looking for contemporary/modern stuff, but anything is good.
And don't tell me to google it. I'm looking for recommendations.
Thanks!
edit: BTW, just read Saul Williams' ,said the shotgun to the head and She. both very interesting alternative poetry books. i recommend.

I second this. Edgar's poetry is usually pretty awesmoe.
As long as you don't mind the fact that he died more than a century and a half ago, which I wouldn't exactly call "modern," you should look into his works; also, his stuff is public domain. You could use his poetry in some of your songs.
