Title: [Racer/Platformer] Skyroads (DOS game)
Post by: Vegetal Gibber on April 15, 2010, 20:34:20
Reading about this game in the "Run 2 Run" thread has brought me back memories. It used to be a shareware game, but it was later re-released as freeware, so I though it would be a good idea to make a thread about it :P

Description:

Skyroads is a futuristic racing game with platforming elements. You must get to the end of the track dodging and/or jumping over obstacles and holes. Each track has its own style and gravity level (your ship will jump a lot higher if the gravity level of the zone is lower than usual). There are also floor tiles with different colors and properties. For example, blue tiles recharge your fuel/oxygen supply, light green speeds your ship greatly, red damages your ship, etc.

Notes:

This is an old DOS game. You can run it directly under Windows XP, but you'll probably get no music at all. I recommend using VDMSound or DOSBox to emulate AdLib/SoundBlaster music and sound effects.

The developers also released the entire game soundtrack in various formats. You can download it at this page: http://www.bluemoon.ee/history/skyroads/music/index.html

This game... Wow, never thought I'd see this again.
Many childhood memories of the Xmas version.
Anyways, this game's awesome as a DOS game. So if you're still a fan of those, you should try it.

When the racer was on the ground again, i coulda sworn it's the first time i heard a sound effect thingy coming from my decrepit computer that runs WinXP, and has no sound card.
