Title: Little bit of help needed in Game Maker
Post by: Ultigonio on October 01, 2010, 03:39:57
I have a few issues with Game Maker, but one that I've having serious trouble solving at the moment is looping music.  I want to loop music so there isn't this horrible pause when it loops.

Solved: there was a pause at the end of the sound...

The problem might be that the sound file is .mp3. Then it will pause before looping. In that case try a different format.

Yeah, I managed to figure that out after looking at the .mp3 file INSTEAD OF the file I was editing after I'd edited it.  I don't understand WHY it does that, though....

That always happens with mp3 files, for me at least.

I wouldn't recommend using GM's built-in sound system.  Use a DLL for audio instead (BASS (http://un4seen.com/) and fmod (http://www.fmod.org/) are both good choices, and both have a history of being used in GM games).

It might seem like overkill at first, but it'll fix this issue and most of your other sound-related problems.
