My first long level! Yeah! It only took me 6 months! <_<
This level started out being for the level competition back in January, but got too big to be completed for that. It is very loosely based off of a dream I had, more like it is based on the idea behind the dream than the dream itself.
I'm looking for beta testers before I release it. Errors, and copious thoughts on the feel of the level are my goals. I am waiting for a friend to get back to me on music for the cut scenes, but other than that, unless everyone hates the story, I think it is done.
Any takers?
-
I'm a taker. :D I'd love to beta test.
-
eh... what the hell... ill give it a try :)
-
*Raises hand*
I'd be happy to give it a shot.
-
Woah. I'm so glad you've finished that. Much as I would like to return the favor, I can't volunteer to beta-test, I simply don't have that time now :( Good luck and I hope that the final version will be released soon :)
-
I've done the PMing, so please enjoy and critique! C)P
Oh shoot, yohji can't beta test???   Well, I look forward to what you think of the finished project then.
-
This is visually amazing. If you need another beta tester, I should be able to.
-
I think I should probably draw the line now. After all, if I get too many more beta testers, the whole knytt community will have played it. C)p

Hey, I'll help te-
Aw.
:P Looks good. I look forward to playing it. Which particular competition was this originally for?
-
This was originally for the urban theme back in January.
So, update, I've gotten a lot of feed back, and copious amounts of errors where found, including my horrendous spelling in cut scene screens. I'll try to get everything ironed out in a month or so. I still have tons of RL stuff hitting me right now, so I can't commit to any time frame.
Many thanks to the beta testers who's review work I'm still looking over. You guys rock. 8D

That scene is very beautiful
Very creatively refreshing.
-
Update, I've got all the fixes done except for the world.ini stuff. Sigh, that is my achille's heel. So, that part may take me an equal amount of time. Plus we are closing on our house and frantically looking for another to buy. Soooooo busy.
Oh yeah, I'm also waiting for my muscly gifted friend to get a bit of modified music back to me for the cut scenes.
-
How have i not seen this... ? Cause i am blind.
anyway.
I love that screen and the subtle word "dream" was mentioned in the original post.
So i'm defiantly interested.
Btw i loved the colors in the screenshot, kinda reminds me of a sunset/pastels.
Good luck with the completion ;)
(also i love and hate doing this but ... i can't wait for your muscly gifted friend to get that music to you X-P ) unless this friend is indeed muscly as well as musically gifted and i apologize.
-
Well, since he is a poetry major good enough to win a study abroad trip to Scotland, I'm guessing he's musically gifted.

This is pretty much done, I just feel like it isn't. Maybe I need to do one more round of beta testing...
-
I'll test it.

I am up for it... Once again...
-
Hmm... quick question for the technical among you before I bundle this up for the final beta: I just did a test run, and there is a weird error I can't figure out. I added a shift that replays the starting cutscene, and it works fine initially. However, if you go and shift into another cutscene and then return to the first cutscene, when the first cutscene ends you find yourself at the previous cutscene not the first. ??? There is no flag work or anything... Any ideas?
-
This is just a hunch, but if one of the cutscene folders is called Intro, try renaming it.
-
Does that mean I'll need one intro and one other folder with the same content?
-

Yes, you could try that. I can't guarantee it will work, but it's worth a shot. If it does work you can then work on a more elegant workaround.
-
Are you saving on the shift that replays the intro? If not, the player will return to the last place the game was saved after the cutscene.
-
Aaaahhhh... haha, that was it. That's fixed, but I've noticed a few rough things going on I still have to fix. Man, it seems really hard to get the music to play the way I want it to. Right now it plays on the cutsceens (which I don't want) and doesn't play while you play (which I do want). I'll have to hunt down that PM you game me ego and try the music as ambiance thing.
-
Well, I think I've got all my errors fixed, and I've got a hold of my music making friend, and he is trying to through together one last piece of music. As soon as I've got that, I'll release it.
I'm not entirely satisfied with my upside down water as it doesn't flow very well, but it is at least not blocky. I added 3 or 4 more "memories" as well.

Finally released: http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=5135.0
